the smoked carpet

What is more disgusting than a used, smoked cigarette butt? And there are so many!

Cigarette butts are very common in our daily street view. Everywhere you go, you can find them laying on the ground. With their toxic content they are poisonous for the environment. Killing a lot of fish when the butts end up in the sea but also small animals in the city die from our cigarette waste.

When opening this waste material you find Cellulose Acetate, a plastic. It is the same material they use a lot in textiles, it is soft, cheap and does not give any allergic reactions.

After cleaning this material intensively what is left is a soft wool like raw material. This can be spun into a yarn and woven into a textile. Finding a way to transform cigarette waste in to a material to use.
